How does SVNA benefit me?

  • SVNA benefits the student in several ways. It starts the process of belonging to a nursing organization. As the transition from student to health care worker takes place, belonging to a nursing organization is very important and beneficial. Membership in an organization allows for networking to take place which may be useful in potential future collaborations or job opportunities. In addition, employers are looking for employees who are well-rounded. Another benefit is development of a collegial spirit among peers.When are the meetings for the organization?

What is the time commitment?

  • Members are expected to attend all meetings and to participate in activities of the organization. Most meetings occur on Tuesdays when students are primarily on campus for class and/or lab sessions. Activities occur primarily on weekends such as Saturday health fairs, college events that are open to the public, on campus activities such as fundraisers, or organization walks.

Are there officers?

  • There are officers in the organization. All levels have the following officers: Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and representatives. Level three has the President of the organization. The student who is the Vice President in level two becomes the President in level three. All officers are voted per level.

  • All members are expected to maintain good academic standing (77% or higher in the program).

What are the dues?

  • The dues for the organization are $10 per semester (fall and spring semesters). Dues must be paid by the due date posted to be considered in good standing.
